Mark Eanes, Bio
Mark Eanes
Mark Eanes is an abstract painter and collagist based in Benicia, California.
He received his BFA in painting and drawing from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1974
studying under Rico LeBrun who demanded virtuosity in draftsmanship from his students.
Mark went on to receive a MFA from Mills College in Oakland CA in 1987 where he was a teaching assistant
to Jay DeFeo and John Nagle.
Since 1987 he has been an Associate Professor of painting and illustration at California College of the Arts.
Eane’s works are part symbolic narratives of bits of collected ephemera such as 19th Century ledger sheets,
old musical scores and antique letters laid down between, upon and under luscious fields of color.
Although abstract they also evoke elements of aerial view landscape.
